Business Looks Different for Everyone. MAKE YOUR OWN RULES.
This quote really resonated with me. As a mom of two wild and wonderful kiddos and a business owner, let’s just say my work days (especially in the summer) aren’t exactly “traditional.”
Some days, I feel like an absolute superhero. I’m up at 5am (who is she?), coffee in one hand and ambition in the other. I crush three Zoom calls before 10am, take the dog (and myself) for a run—hello, self-care, brainstorm names for a new brand, and put the finishing touches on a website design, whip up lunch for 2 hungry kids, then dive right back into building a brand identity that has me buzzing with excitement. By 5 pm, it’s onto dinner, sports, homework, bedtime—and finally, glorious, glorious sleep.
Other days?
Well… I’m in full-on survival mode. I’m juggling meetings while replying to emails (for both work and school), helping finish a last-minute class project, trying not to forget dinner, client deadlines, or my mind in the process.
Some days are wins.
Presenting killer brand concepts to a client and watching their eyes light up because they can’t even choose a favorite? Yes, please! Nailing a new business pitch and flying out for a client’s grand opening? Absolutely magical.
And some days?
Business looks like working smack in the middle of a Nerf gun battle. The kids are running wild, Katy Perry is inexplicably on repeat, and I’m dodging foam darts while designing logos. Pro tip: keep a Nerf blaster in your desk drawer—trust me.
It’s messy. It’s loud. It’s beautiful. And honestly? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Getting to make my own rules for what business looks like for me has been everything. I’m endlessly grateful for the chaos, time with my kids, and the clients & creative work that light me up.
So I’m curious—what does your version of “business” look like?
